Preakness Bible Church – Wayne, NJ

We serve a Great and Almighty God, and we see Him working at Preakness Bible Church!

2 Corinthians 5:20 – We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

As ambassadors of Christ, we have had several new ministry opportunities to draw in people from the community and tell them about Christ. This summer, with the help of GBC student Kyle Vegh and intern Joshua Befus, we were able to add an adult Bible Hour (Sunday School) class. We have heard many positive remarks as one class explored some of the lesser-known Redemption Stories of the Bible and the other learning how to defend their faith in the Apologetics class taught by Pastor Karl. God’s Word is exciting, true, and relevant to our lives! It is also exciting to see a consistent group of ladies meeting each week for the Women’s Summer Fellowship as they study the book of Malachi.

In late July, we had our ‘Weird Animals’ VBS, drawing in over 130 kids as the church transformed into a lush wilderness setting! It was a week loaded with fascinating Bible stories, fun, and energy as we were able to share the gospel with each child. Each day, the children would learn how Jesus loves them in many different ways. Each activity taught an aspect of the theme: from games and crafts to snacks and Bible story times, and even videos. We praise God for the exceeding number of volunteers from the church who set aside a week to be Christ’s ambassadors to these children. We continue to pray that the families in the community would be involved in the activities here at Preakness.

One of the great things about summer, especially a World Cup summer, is that we are able to have a variety of activities to get families together. With soccer the theme of the summer, we were able to bring people together to cheer on the USA team, and also to play our own soccer games (not quite World Cup quality of playing). We are also excited to be recognized as the champions of the local church softball league. We are very thankful for the many opportunities to fellowship and to reach out to the community.

All glory goes to God, and we continue to pray that He blesses the ministries here in Wayne, New Jersey. These are exciting times!
